bio

Matt is a creative field, archival and story documentary maker. After spending his young adulthood in radio, activism, weekly trade-mags and education, he made a leap to long-form indie feature docs, then to doc-series. Matt co-produced TYING THE KNOT. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and won best documentary at the Frameline International Film Festival. It was picked up for theatrical-release nationwide by art house distributor Roadside Attractions, followed by many years on Netflix. He produced the indie doc
FOUR SEASONS LODGE, which premiered at AFI's festival. It was distributed theatrically and on PBS and is now streaming on Amazon.

Matt’s work in field-producing, casting, story-producing and directing on docu-series can be seen on HBO Max, Sundance Channel, Nat Geo Wild, History Channel, Vice, Oxygen and more. He has segment-produced and cast-for several antique-and-thrift-store series, everywhere from Alabama to Jersey to Alaska. At one brief point, he directed sharks. Matt was  also the archival producer for HOLLYWOOD IN UTAH on PBS; the feature doc JEWELLE, A JUST VISION, for QWOCMAP; the Cabbage-Patch Kids documentary BILLION DOLLAR BABIES (for Universal and Believe Entertainment) and series for Netflix, AMC, YouTube, History Channel amongst others.
And worked on an odd-number of quite-decent paranormal shows. Matt's very first segment for commercial television aired on Fox nationally.

His most pivotal work has always been focused on raising-up and empowering voices of those not normally recognized in the mainstream culture. From teaching 'zine-making at Hetrick-Martin, radio-making for Children's Pressline, video-making for previously expelled high-school students in Harlem, organizing on behalf of Gulf-War Resistors, using TYING THE KNOT as a tool for activists to reach audiences, or archival producing on PHILLY RUMBA and the AUNTIE SEWING SQUAD RESISTANCE PLAYBOOK, his fundamentals are all about fostering and encouraging people to advocate for themselves, and ensuring spaces that they are heard.

Matt is currently producing dance documentaries for Bollywood NYC, and developing the feature documentary, BEATLESFEST.
